Jeffrey Jenkins

MSHM SC,EP, CSCS

Jeffrey Jenkins is an accomplished strength and conditioning coach with more than 20 years of experience, having guided over 3,000 clients across a broad spectrum—from young athletes and national competitors to professionals, older adults, and those addressing movement impairments or past injuries. Of Korean-American heritage, Jenkins began training in Taekwondo at age 5, achieving national medals between ages 12 and 18, a USA Taekwondo World bronze medal, and multiple national championships. This foundation led to his participation in the resident athlete program at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, cultivating the rigor that has shaped his professional path.

While earning a B.A. in Economics at the University of Maryland, Jenkins led the university's Taekwondo program, balancing athletic oversight with his studies. His interest shifted toward strength and conditioning via CrossFit, prompting advanced education: a Master of Science in Human Movement Strength and Conditioning from A.T. Still University in 2014, followed by a second M.S. in Human Movement with a certificate in Exercise Psychology in 2016. His coursework emphasized program design, periodization, evidence-based practices, sports psychology, motor control, functional biomechanics, and muscular development, enabling him to apply scientific principles effectively in training.

From 2014 to 2023, Jenkins owned and directed Humble Beast Fit in Washington, D.C., where he developed customized periodization models, including macro- and micro-cycles, to enhance performance across off-, pre-, and mid-season phases. His expertise encompassed movement analysis and correction, injury evaluation and rehabilitation, psychological support, data interpretation, and team-building strategies, incorporating general physical preparation, functional training, and load management to promote injury prevention and sustained results.

Jenkins started competing in Olympic weightlifting, earning a USAW National bronze medal, and repeated titles as a Masters World Medalist. His credentials include certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USAW Level 2 National Coach status, Graston IASTM Technique Therapy (Levels 1 and 2), and completion of First Principles of Movement Parts A, B, and C, with over 100 hours of practical application. Collaborations with chiropractors and movement experts have refined his skills in injury assessment, program adaptation, and high-level coaching. Since 2020, he has served as an off- and pre-season strength coach for MLB pitchers, providing individualized training to support elite performance.

Currently, as a Health and Human Performance Specialist in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, Jenkins provides tailored, comprehensive services, including assessments, custom training plans, and performance tracking. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Exercise Science at Concordia University Chicago, with an expected completion in 2028, focusing on strength and conditioning, exercise physiology, and the integration of wearable technology for health and recovery. Through this ongoing work, Jenkins advances evidence-based approaches to athlete development and client outcomes.
